A serious loss has hit the art world. Bill Viola, considered one of the greatest contemporary artists in the world, as well as one of the fathers of video art, has died at the age of 73. The American creative studio released a note to break the news, also adding that Viola suffered from Alzheimer's.

Author of highly appreciated installations and soundscapes, he has profoundly influenced entire generations of artists. In Italy, in 2017, in Florence he was the protagonist of a retrospective at Palazzo Strozzi, in which twenty-six works created over a forty-year career were exhibited.

The following year, PlayStation 4, Windows and Apple released Viola's first video game, “The Night Journey.”
