Three actors on stage and a ghost. The Ittiri Municipal Theater hosts on Wednesday at 9pm the regional premiere of "The Honest Ghost" by Edoardo Erba, one of the most interesting and appreciated Italian playwrights, who also directed. Co-director and protagonist on stage Gianmarco Tognazzi. The quartet is completed by Renato Marchetti and Fausto Sciarappa and in video by Bruno Armando (Altra Scena production – Viola Produzioni).

The play tells of a friendship that continues beyond death: the bond that unites four actors who met during a tour is suddenly broken due to the tragic end of one of them, whose memory emerges forcefully on the occasion of the mise en scène of Hamlet Shakespeare. While Gallo, who has become a film star, does not intend to return to the stage after the death of his friend, the other two, Costa and Tito, who are struggling to make ends meet, want to involve him in their project at all costs and thus the idea was born to entrust the role of the ghost to the deceased, complete with name on the poster. A posthumous tribute that raises many doubts in Gallo, who still suffers from the loss of his friend, whom he loved dearly... until he appears to him as a ghost, come to ask for revenge for the wrongs he has suffered.

“The Honest Ghost” is thus transformed into a sort of dark comedy, where in a game of theater within the theatre, reality and fiction are confused and as the father induces Hamlet to punish his murderer, so the ghost of his friend demands that the old scene partners finally tell the truth and admit their mutual betrayals. Between autobiographical and metatheatrical elements, Edoardo Erba addresses the theme of absence, in a hypothetical return from the afterlife of a restless spirit, which reveals itself to the three surviving actors as «the essence of the feeling that bound them and will bind them for life ».

The show is included in the CeDac Sardinia programme.
