It was the summer of 1999 and Paolo Sorrentino arrived in La Maddalena with the screenplay for “L'uomo plus” in his pocket. Finalist at the Solinas Prize, he won the Rai International section and from that first work (still on paper and not in images) his career took off.
Saturday 13 July 2024, 9.30 pm, Villasimius Marina Festival, Paolo Sorrentino (fresh from Cannes with “Parthenope”) returns to Sardinia rich in an Oscar award and many international successes. However, the director will not be the only star who will enliven the evenings at the Piazzetta della Marina given that the program includes the Premio Strega Sandro Veronesi, the actors Alessandro Borghi, Luca Marinelli, but not only.
«I wanted an alternation of voices, also different in sounds and styles and yet, in diversity, all with a personal and profound poetics, recognizable among many others», explains the new artistic director Francesca Serafini, screenwriter and writer. «I wanted to offer the public the opportunity to enter the authors' workshops. That's when I thought of Paolo Sorrentino. The Sorrentino writer, however. That he didn't just talk to us about his cinema which, inevitably, will also be talked about."
