In the Marmilla music district, a group composed of young people from Turri and Gonnosnò will compete in the Sanremo Rock finals, scheduled for Saturday, August 30th in Ferrara. The group, Eczema, was selected from over 20,000 applicants thanks to their song "Diagnosi."
The band was formed in late 2022 and released their first single, "Insulina," online in June 2023. Their debut album, "Diagnosi," was released in August 2024, bearing the title of the song selected. The single "Diagnosi" was released on June 2nd, taking its name from the album's title, almost as if to conclude a journey it epitomizes and pave the way for the band's new musical experimentation.
The group's name, like the song titles, reflects physical issues and illnesses: the overriding theme of the lyrics is precisely corporeality, even in its most visceral aspects, along with pathologies. "Through this theme, we explore the contradictions of today's society," explain the four members: Andrea Picchedda, Claudio Figus, Giulio Porcu, and Enrico Porcu.
Among the songs, there are also some with a more literary feel, such as "On the Beach," inspired by Haruki Murakami's "Kafka on the Shore." As for the album's sound, it represents a synthesis of the band members' diverse musical experiences, ranging from post-punk to classic punk rock, with hints of hardcore, hard rock, and pop punk.
"Being selected for the Northern Italy finals, where the winners will then perform at the Ariston in Sanremo in mid-September, and thus being able to represent Sardinia in an important national context is a source of great pride for us," conclude Eczema.
