Horns, instead of trumpets as is more usual. Among the brass instruments it is a little considered instrument, yet it is a protagonist in both classical music and film soundtracks.

" I corni di Sassari " is an orchestra based on the horns (ten) and the tuba which takes care of the bass part. On Wednesday 27 March at 7pm the Sala Sassu hosts a free concert as part of the "I Wednesdays of the Conservatory" series.

The instrumental group “I corni di Sassari” was born in 2010 in the classrooms of the Conservatory. Taking the stage will be Lorenzo Agnesa, Gabriele Carboni, Roberto Chelo, Davide Cordeddu, Antonio Dettori, Michele Garofalo, Roberto Mura, Danilo Ogno, Salvatore Rizzu, Mattia Ximenes (horns) and Giovanni Fenu (tuba), directed by Gavino Mele, teacher of Horn of the Conservatory.

The program is enticing and varied: Prelude and Fugue in A minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, the Overture from Ludwig van Beethoven's Egmont , Nimrod from Edward Elgar's Enigma Variations , before moving on to the soundtracks of famous films, such as Jurassic Park by John Williams and Braveheart by James Horner, and close in jazz with a medley of Duke Ellington's most famous compositions.
