The shortest route to Europe passes through Sardegna Ricerche. Competitiveness, growth, and innovation will be the focus of the Horizon Lab event, scheduled for July 17th at the Sa Manifattura Auditorium in Cagliari. The event was created to help Sardinian startups, spin-offs, and innovative businesses understand and seize all the opportunities offered by the Horizon Europe program—the most advanced tool deployed by the European Union for funding research and innovation—to become internationally competitive or open new markets.
The Horizon Lab is designed as an integrated program, structured around three main components: information, orientation (B2B), and specialized training, with a particular focus on operational skills, such as practical application in European project planning processes. The program extends from the introductory phase to the workshop phase, guiding all participants toward a strategic vision capable of transforming innovative ideas into competitive projects.
"Innovation is the main tool for mastering an increasingly rapid and imminent future. Sardinia has demonstrated its great capacity in this direction, but ideas require solid expertise and specific paths to become competitive, capable of tackling the international stage. The Horizon Europe program offers the right strategies to help startups and innovative companies realize ideas and projects, as well as paving the way to the European market," stated Carmen Atzori, Director General of Sardegna Ricerche.
The Horizon Lab Sardegna program is managed by the European Research Desk of Sardegna Ricerche, which for 15 years has been the regional center of expertise on the European Framework Programs and funding funds for research and innovation (VII Framework Program for R&I&ST, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe 2021-2027), hosting the APRE Desk – Agency for the Promotion of European Research – of which Sardegna Ricerche is a member and regional representative.
The first session of the Horizon Lab will be highly strategic, with Apre experts illustrating the opportunities available within the program, exploring EIC (European Innovation Council) tools, the role of private investment in developing innovation, and the prospects for future European programming for 2028–2034. The second session will be entirely dedicated to one-on-one meetings, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly with the experts.
