Tiziano Siviero, the former world rally champion who was involved in an accident on the island of Elba, is in serious condition. The navigator, 65, was on a motorbike when - according to an initial reconstruction - he was hit by a car in Lido di Capoliveri, on the provincial road that leads from Porto Azzurro to Portoferraio.

Violent impact, which threw Siviero from the saddle making him take a flight of about ten meters.

Rescuers transferred him by helicopter to the Cisanello hospital in Pisa where he underwent surgery .

As co-driver of Miki Biasion, Siviero has won two world rally titles.
