The Italian Carolina Orsi wins the FIP Platinum Sardinia, the first of the two international padel trophies scheduled at the Tennis Club Cagliari. Great show on the central court of the Monte Urpinu facilities, where the athlete of the national team (who will remain in the capital to play the European Padel Championships, starting on Monday) won the final 6-2 6- together with the Spanish Nuria Rodríguez 7(7) 6-3 over Argentine Aranzazu Osoro and Spanish Marta Marrero, seeded number 2 in the women's draw. A show that lasted 2 hours and 42', which started over an hour later than expected thanks to today's great heat, in which Orsi and Rodríguez brought home a great prestigious result, at the end of a week in which they always given high level performance.
The exultation. «I wanted to thank the Sardinian public again because you can't do better than this», celebrates Orsi, the first Italian to win in a FIP Platinum event as well as in one of the tournaments organized in Cagliari since 2020. «I'm very happy to have won here, it's my first international title of my career and I'm very excited to have done it in Italy. I also want to thank my partner, who led me to victory against two champions. I hope to continue like this for another week." Orsi had also reached the final at the FIP Platinum Sardinia a year ago, but lost (paired with Carla Mesa) against Llaguno-Sainz. Yesterday, in the semi-final, she and Rodríguez (numbers 27 and 25 in the world) had overcome the big favourites, Virginia Riera and Carmen Goenaga García, seeded number 1.
