Cagliari Calcio fondly remembers Silvio Longobucco, a former defender who wore the Rossoblu shirt for seven seasons, who died at the age of 71 in Scalea, in his native Calabria.

Grim and gritty full-back, Longobucco was among the architects of the promotion to A in 1978/79 and has collected over 190 appearances in Sardinia between Serie A and Serie B, scoring three goals.

In his career he also played in Juventus and with the black and white jersey he won three league titles and played in the bitter finals of the Champions Cup and Intercontinental Cup lost by the Old Lady in 1973 against Ajax and Independiente.

He ended his career - which began with the Ternana shirt - at Cosenza, with whom he won the Anglo-Italian Cup.
