Farewell to Nico Fidenco .
The singer-songwriter of "Tied to a grain of sand" , the first great summer hit in the history of Italian music with 14 weeks at the top of the charts and the first 45 rpm to exceed one million copies sold in Italy, died last night in Rome: he had 89 years old .
Born Domenico Colarossi , Fidenco broke the bank in the 60s with songs taken from soundtracks, such as "What a Sky" - in the Italian version "Su nel cielo" - from Francesco Maselli's film "I delfini".
Still "Just that same old line" from the film "The girl with the suitcase" with Claudia Cardinale; "Moon River" from "Breakfast at Tiffany's" with Audrey Hepburn.
Among the other great pop hits at the top of the charts also "With you on the beach", "If you lose me", "The desire to dance", "Goccia di Mare", "It is not true".
From the 1970s onwards he continued to deal with soundtracks and tried his hand at theme songs for Japanese anime with great success . In 2007 he performed live at Lucca Comics & Games.
