A penalty scored by Falletti and another missed by Pavoletti condemned Cagliari to a 1-0 defeat on the Ternana field.

This time there were no surprises, but Liverani changed three compared to the match against Parma, relaunching Zappa for Di Pardo in defense, Deiola for the suspended Nandez in the middle and Luvumbo up front in Pavoletti's place. But 6' is enough for Ternana to break the ice: Obert's naivety knocks down Partipilo in the area and after the usual protests, Falletti slips into the corner (8') for the 1-0.

Cagliari's reaction is sterile, with only Barreca trying to break through to the left, but without finding support. And in the 33rd minute it was the hosts who came close to doubling the lead with a header from Pettinari who narrowly missed the target. In the 35th minute Cagliari was also seen, with an attempt from the edge by Kourfalidis deflected for a corner by the Umbrian goalkeeper Iannarilli. In the 43rd minute Luvumbo also tries, but his left foot from distance doesn't create any problems. The first half ends like this.

In the second half, the rossoblù assault is awaited and instead Ternana first sees Palumbo's double (3') canceled due to offside and then almost an encore with Partipilo, stopped by Radunovic (9'). And in the 18th minute it was again Agazzi who failed from a good position. Cagliari keep the ball, but it's never dangerous.

Then, in the 27th minute, Di Tacchio touches his hand in the area and Massa, after long checks at the Var, decrees the penalty. Pavoletti goes on the spot, who had replaced the penalty taker Lapadula shortly before, and Iannarilli intercepts on his right. Liverani sent in all the attackers and in the 46th minute Pereiro headed in, but Iannarilli saved without problems. The last attempt is by Falco, but the goalkeeper saves for a corner. And for Cagliari comes the umpteenth disappointment of a season in the dark.
