The Italian clay season opens with the second edition of Challenger 175, scheduled from 29 April to 5 May on the Monte Urpinu courts. Many big Italians on the field. Tickets already on sale with discount for FITP members for a unique event that promises quality and entertainment.

Now there is very little left until the start of the second edition of the "Sardegna Open", a Challenger 175 category tournament that launches the great tennis season in Italy, a tasty appetizer of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia.

From 29 April to 5 May the event for fans is on the red clay of the Cagliari Tennis Club, where they will be able to admire up close the protagonists of the Italian tennis renaissance as well as the top players who, having left the ATP 1000 in Madrid prematurely, will be able to sign up to continue playing before the Foro Italico.

A quick glance at the list of those registered for the "Sardinia Open" is enough to realize the absolute quality of the players that Sardinian fans will be able to admire. As in the last edition, which saw the Frenchman Ugo Humbert prevail over opponents of the caliber of Ben Shelton, Laslo Djere and Diego Schwartzman, this year too the entry list is fabulous. The ambitious objective is to further raise the technical and spectacular rate of a competition that has already achieved excellence, with a prize pool of 205 thousand euros and a draw of 28 for singles and 16 pairs for doubles.

“Another season of great events in Italian tennis opens, in a truly historic moment for our movement - specified the President of the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation Angelo Binaghi - and we are ready to start, once again, this great little journey that from Cagliari will take us to Rome. Our events, which are increasingly important, are the thermometer of our growth, which has been constant for years, combined with the extraordinary results of the field".

At the moment the entry list includes all the top Italian players in the ATP ranking (with the exception of n.2 Jannik Sinner), starting from Lorenzo Musetti (n.24 in the world ranking) up to Luca Nardi (76), passing through Matteo Arnaldi (38), Lorenzo Sonego (57), Flavio Cobolli (63), Luciano Darderi (64).

If the player with the highest ranking registered in Cagliari is the reigning champion Ugo Humbert, Frenchman currently number 15 in the world, champions of the caliber of the Croatian Borna Coric, the Hungarian Fabian Marozsan and the German Daniel Altmaier are also highly anticipated, without forgetting the Americans Christopher Eubanks and Alex Michelsen. For everyone, their actual presence in the tournament will depend on the results they obtain in the first week of the Masters 1000 in Madrid, given that great exploits can also be expected from players such as the Serbians Dusan Lajovic or Miomir Kecmanovic.

After the Internazionali BNL d'Italia and the ATP finals in Turin, the one in Cagliari is the most important tournament taking place in Italy and Sardinia, just think of the successful matches of the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup, is now prepared to host events of this level.

And then the tournament in the Sardinian capital will be played in a club, something that the players always like a lot. Compared to large stadiums, such as Indian Wells and Miami, or to cold and aseptic sports halls, appointments in tennis clubs give the big names the sensation of being a little like children again, back in the days when they could lie down on a small armchair, exchange a few chats with the club members, waiting their turn to take to the field, while maintaining tranquility and privacy. This is why even a spectacular location like the one in which the Cagliari Tennis Club is immersed, in the suggestive green oasis of the Monte Urpinu hill, will make the difference.

The ticket office is already open: you can purchase the ticket on the ticketone.it website. Without forgetting that, for FITP Card holders, there is a 20% discount on tickets and 10% on season tickets.
