Turritan boxer Arturo Maltoni, competing abroad for the first time, made it to the quarterfinals. The 15-year-old has 35 fights under his belt, has been boxing for about two years, and in this short time, has demonstrated his talent and aptitude for boxing. This is confirmed by his national tournament wins and the title of Italian Champion he earned in June 2026, so much so that he was noticed by the coaches of the Italian Under-17 National Team, who included him in the team of 12 athletes competing in the Under-17 European Championship, held in Budva, Montenegro, from October 1 to 12.

Despite his first experience abroad, he nevertheless demonstrated his ability to compete at a certain level. In the high-level tournament, with 40 nations present and 495 athletes registered, he advanced through the round of 32 preliminary rounds for WO, then the round of 16 against Serbian Ognjen Staletovich. Having reached the quarterfinals, just one step away from a medal, he lost to English athlete Shiloh McLeod, a boxer with over 100 matches under his belt, who went on to become European Champion, defeating Turkey in the semifinals and the Uzbekistani athlete in the final. A bitter end, but one that left him with the knowledge that he had given his all, even against worthy opponents.

A placement that makes the entire Se.Sa Boxing Team proud and confirms Porto Torres as a city that produces boxing talent. "We shouldn't underestimate the fact that Arturo has only been in the Italian boxing scene for four months, but match after match he has proven himself to be among the eight best youth boxers in Europe in the Under-17 52kg category," say coaches Loi Antonello and Pietro Pintadu, who continue to train so many youngsters day after day.
