“What energy for today's and future health: reflections on environmental criticalities and health risk factors in Sardinia”: this is the theme of the regional conference scheduled for tomorrow in Cagliari (“Sardegna Hotel”, via Lunigiana 40, starting at 2 pm) on the initiative of the Sardinia section of the ISDE, Doctors for the Environment.
«The environment in its most complete definition is a fundamental determinant for the psycho-physical well-being and therefore for the health of people and populations», we read in the introductory note of the conference. « Often the conditions of environmental degradation and the degree of health of individuals and the community escape the perception of citizens but also the knowledge of professionals such as doctors and healthcare personnel. The task of ISDE Sardinia, within the regional event 2025, is to use and account for the best scientific research on the link between pollution and health , debate the present and future energy of Sardinia, provide knowledge tools for healthcare workers and others, in informing and raising awareness among citizens on these important and serious problems. The role of the Doctors for the Environment of ISDE is, moreover, to promote the integration of services and interventions for the protection of health also in sectors other than healthcare such as the social and environmental ones, enhancing initiatives for the promotion and protection of health, directing them, in particular, to the needs of the Sardinian community; our commitment is to provide an overview of possible solutions in the context of ecological and technological transition as well as development models to combine environment and health" .
