The Chamber of Deputies approved the government's motion of confidence for Article 2 of the electoral reform bill, a text identical to the one approved by the Senate, with 227 votes in favor and 149 against (three abstentions).
The law provides for "Changes to the Senate election system".
Shortly before, it had approved, with 226 votes in favour and 147 against, the vote of confidence placed on Article 1 which, among other things, contains the changes to the text made by the Senate regarding signatures and preferences with regards to the Chamber .
Tomorrow, the Montecitorio assembly will proceed to examine, with a third vote of confidence, Article 3 (modifying the territorial boundaries of the single-member senatorial constituencies in the province of Bolzano) and to vote on Article 8, which, again following amendments approved in the second reading, extends the right to vote of non-residents to family caregivers and to discuss the agenda items of the text.
The final approval, by secret ballot, of the electoral reform is scheduled for late morning on Thursday, October 8th.
