In general, the request is to work on two fronts: on the one hand, guaranteeing irrigation and drinking water, that is the water that arrives from the taps in the houses, on the other hand, to put in place a series of structural initiatives, requested in particular by the president of the Conference of Regions Massimiliano Fedriga, in order not to spend every summer of the coming years in an emergency, considering that climate change suggests that 2022 is not an exceptional summer, but that it becomes more or less the rule .

Some areas of Piedmont, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna are observed special and many municipalities have issued ordinances prohibiting the use of water for non-essential purposes. The Municipality of Cuneo, as a precaution, has decided to close the public fountains, while the fountains of the green areas will remain in operation.
