Jannik Sinner makes a winning return after the disappointment of the Australian Open.

The world number 2 easily defeated the tough Czech Tomas Machac, world number 31, in the second round of the ATP 500 in Doha.

Sinner won 6-1, 6-4 in an hour and 15 minutes, conceding a paltry six points to his opponent in nine service games.

In the third round the South Tyrolean meets the Australian Popyrin.

Carlos Alcaraz makes his tournament debut on Tuesday, facing Frenchman Royer, number 60 in the ATP ranking.
