Reigning champion Novak Djokovic has announced his withdrawal from the ATP Finals due to injury .

"I'm sorry for everyone who had planned to come and see me but due to an injury I won't be able to play next week," the Serbian wrote on social media. "I wish all the players a great tournament. See you soon."

At this point, the list of participants in the “masters tournament” is definitive, the best 8 of the 2024 season, which will start on Sunday in Turin: Sinner, Zverev, Alcaraz, Medvedev, Fritz, Ruud, De Minaur and Rublev .

With Zverev overtaking Alcaraz, the Spaniard, now number 3 in the world and in the Race to Turin, could find himself in the same group as number 1 Jannik Sinner. This is the tournament formula, the only ATP competition in which you can advance even by losing a match: two groups of 4, the first two of each group advance, then a cross-over semifinal between the first of one group and the second of the other, then the final.

The draw for the two groups is scheduled for Thursday. During the tournament, Jannik Sinner will also be awarded as world number 1 at the end of the year.
