The Aerospace District of Sardinia turns ten. And he sets his goal for the future: Mars.
Allowing man to reach the Red Planet is, in fact, also one of the priority objectives of Dass, which can already boast some patents for cutting-edge technologies . An activity summarized in a book, published for the tenth anniversary and entitled "Dass X, destination Mars" and presented during a conference in Cagliari, in the conference room of the Banco di Sardegna.
An opportunity to also take stock of the past, present and future.
Among the scientific objectives of the District, the achievement of a Martian landing site located at an altitude never reached before was highlighted. Among the technological ones, however, the possibility of creating structural elements directly on Martian soil stands out, thus laying the foundations for the construction of larger structures on the red planet.
In particular, this achievement is based on a technology, already tested in parabolic flight in 2010, 100% owned by Dass, whose patent, filed in 2011 and granted in Europe, United States of America, Russia, China , India and Japan , is also considered positively within the Isecg - International space exploration and coordination group - which brings together all the main world space agencies.
Since 2016, two patent applications have been acquired related to deep space exploration.
Speaking of Mars, the in situ Space manufacturing project has already taken off with the Sardinian district as the lead partner. It will flow into the plan called Small mission to Mars which will allow Italy to reach the surface of the red planet in 2031.
In tracing the balance of 10 years of activity, the president of Dass Giacomo Cao recalled «not only the attraction to Sardinia of important companies in the national aerospace sector which have generated interesting implications in terms of employment, but also the multiplication of regional public co-financing five times, reaching project dimensions of sixty million euros ."
