End of career for Sonny Colbrelli.
The 32-year-old cyclist who was hit by a cardiorespiratory arrest on March 21st retires from competition. The announcement comes from his team , Bahrain Victorious.
" I say goodbye to cycling, I try to do it with a smile, remembering everything it gave me, even if it hurts after the season I got, the best of my career", said Colbrelli, who had won Paris in 2021- Roubaix, in addition to the titles of Italian and European champion.
In March the terrible accident: he had lost consciousness after the sprint ended in Sant Feliu de Guixols, at the end of the first stage of the Tour of Catalonia, in which he was classified second.
They had given him heart massage and then transported him to the university hospital of Girona. Here the tests had ascertained a cardiac arrhythmia. A subcutaneous defibrillator was then applied.
