Until February 26, 2023, the ancient seat of the Cagliari Town Hall hosts over 200 original works on a journey between fantasy and reality in the art of Hugo Pratt and one of the most beloved cartoon characters, born from his genius: Corto Maltese .

After the great success of Genoa, Corto Maltese, the romantic sailor, continues sailing in the Mediterranean. Here is an exhibition animated by: sails, seas, mysterious horizons including drawings, watercolors, rare plates and the original multivision.

An exhibition organized by the synergy of multiple institutions: Municipality of Cagliari - Department of Culture and Entertainment - Civic Museums of Cagliari, in collaboration with CMS Cultura, with the support of the Sardinia Foundation and the collaboration of the Navy.

The mission Hugo Pratt with his adventurous life designed his iconic character as a globetrotter, still inspiring entire generations today and traveling through immortal themes: self-discovery, exploration of distant places, meeting new cultures, freedom experienced as the movement of the waves. Corto Maltese made its first appearance on Italian newsstands in the pages of Sgt. Kirk magazine, back in 1967, starting the never-ending myth of the perfect graphic novel.

The exhibition offers its visitors a journey into the twentieth century, following the imaginary route towards the southern seas, passing through Africa, up to the North American border. Here Corto the adventurer immerses himself in tumultuous undertakings, meets rebels, seductive women, crosses African deserts and American prairies. With this in mind, various exhibition sectors can be visited at Palazzo di Città, such as: The Southern Seas, a section focused on sea voyages by the adventurer, the area dedicated to Africa, where Hugo Pratt spent his adolescence arriving in Abyssinia at only ten years. And still admire the watercolors of Pratt that pay homage to the fascinating world of women with strong personalities.
