Still a few hours available for the electoral campaign in the three main Sardinian municipalities called to vote on Saturday and Sunday.
The candidates for the office of mayor - five in Cagliari, five in Sassari and two in Alghero - spend their last words and resources in rallies to convince voters not to desert the polls.
In the Sardinian capital the appointments end between today and tomorrow.
Tonight in the square Alessandra Zedda and Emanuela Corda. Zedda, former vice-president of the Region and councilor for Labor of the Solinas council, candidate of the centre-right, met voters at the Lions park, in the premises of the Solstitium restaurant, to close the campaign and launch the final challenge for the conquest of Palazzo Bacaredda: if elected , she would be the first female mayor to lead the municipality.
«Cagliari is ready to write a new story that passes through the first female mayor of the city – said Alessandra Zedda -. A challenge that was difficult for us, but a beautiful challenge made for the city we love."
Then a torpedo to the centre-left: «Ours is a very different path from the lords of the no who have decided to seduce and abandon Cagliari for a more comfortable seat». And a reminder of the traditions of the capital: «We are proud of our city, our culture and our identity. Person and family are at the center for us. But for us it is important to rediscover our vocation to trade." There is also space for the theme of tourism: «Two days of stay in the city cannot be a value, Cagliari deserves more. It is a beautiful city, but it needs a different step. Roads and traffic must be reorganized. We have an extraordinary parking plan in mind." And finally: «We dream of a Cagliari with the University of nautics and design, a city without suburbs, open to all».
Also this evening, the leader of Alternativa and former Five Star Movement, Emanuela Corda , chose an itinerant closure: first a walk along Via Garibaldi, then a flash mob in Piazza Constitution, to then move to Piazza Yenne and conclude with the rally at the Nervi Pavilion .
«It was a wonderful electoral campaign, against everyone, proposing our ideas, but above all a concept: free voting», Corda's words. «At this moment - said the former parliamentarian - we defend democracy against bipolarism and against liberticidal, unfair, exclusionary and unconstitutional laws. We brought this project to Cagliari to change the city. A free proposal with a single symbol. A cohesive group, a well-constructed program and above all without debts of gratitude. We ask you to vote for Emanuela Corda with Alternativa on 8 and 9 June and to make a free choice."
Massimo Zedda , candidate of the centre-left, closed in Piazza Garibaldi, flanked by the president of the Region, Alessandra Todde. «We will take care of the city, the maintenance of its streets, squares, parks, cleanliness. First of all we would like to launch a challenge to ourselves by climbing the rankings on the quality of life and that of public services, of the reduction of pollution to green surfaces, from sustainable mobility policies to social services, nominating Cagliari with the Region alongside city of peace, cooperation and relations in the Mediterranean. An open European window that looks at the rest of the Mediterranean basin", the words of the candidate, former mayor of the city from 2011 to 2019. He then underlined the objectives of the coalition of 10 lists that support him: "We would like to take care of the people, the their needs, of the many needs, in ensuring for all and sundry the many rights that are still denied." Among the other points touched on, health and social services.
Tomorrow the closing of the other two candidates will be held: at 5pm Claudia Ortu , with Cagliari popular - Alternative class, supported by Potere al Popolo and PCI, will be at Is Mirrionis, in the space in front of the former popular school; while the former Forza Italia, Giuseppe Farris , supported by the CiviCa 2024 Movement, will be at 7.30 pm at the Marina Piccola amphitheater.
In Sassari this evening the centre-left candidate, Giuseppe Mascia , called together the supporters of his seven lists. The other candidates have already closed their electoral campaigns: on Monday it was the rector Gavino Mariotti , standard-bearer of the centre-right, who turned off the spotlight on his troubled race to the vote with a rally in the Garibaldi hemicycle.
Yesterday, however, the three aspiring mayors supported by civic movements concluded in the square: Mariano Brianda with three lists, Giuseppe Palopoli with the Sassari woke list, and the outgoing councilor Nicola Lucchi , with six lists.
In Alghero , the former regional councilor of FI, Marco Tedde , candidate of the centre-right, closes the electoral campaign today, while tomorrow it will be the turn of the candidate of the extended centre-left, Raimondo Cacciotto (6.30pm Piazza Porta Terra).
