"The new stadium? This week Minister Abodi was in Cagliari to meet with the President of the Region and the Mayor of Cagliari: it seems to me that all the institutions are aligned, we are still waiting for certain bureaucratic steps and after that I hope that by mid-2025 we can say that the project is really, finally starting". This is the wish of Tommaso Giulini, President of Cagliari, on the issue of the facility that will be built in place of the current Sant'Elia and that will be named after Gigi Riva.
The rossoblù number one made these statements to the official channel of the Lega Serie A, in the offices following the assembly where (with 15 votes out of 20) he was elected councilor of Lega . «We are entering to represent the sport most loved by Italians, which brings so much satisfaction everywhere and which is the most followed in Sardinia», the joy of Giulini, who had already held this role from 2021 to 2022. «We are proud as Cagliari, I am proud as president of Cagliari, it is a great responsibility. As we know, football makes so many children dream and we must always think about this, we must work for the football system, we have made ourselves available and we are happy to have done so».
On his work as an advisor, Giulini believes there is plenty of room for growth: "Today I saw a fair amount of unity of purpose, which must also be there with the Football Federation and the Government, because alone we represent more or less the most important part in terms of revenue and visibility, but as is well known, without unity with the Football Federation and the Government we are not going anywhere. I hope that with the new president and the reconfirmed CEO we will be able to work even better than in the past".
Giulini also commented on how he follows Cagliari's matches: "I suffer a lot, I'll never get used to it. But I also suffer a lot in seeing that we've been working hard for the stadium project for ten years, so I hope that between now and June we can really have definitive news, with Cagliari hopefully still in Serie A."
