An overflowing Cagliari wins 4-2 in Monza and flies to sixth place in the standings, right in the playoff zone. Great test of strength and character for Pisacane's team, against an opponent who had only lost to Milan the day before.

Vinciguerra broke the deadlock after just six minutes of play. The rossoblù came close to doubling their lead in the 10th minute with Konate but the attacker's header, following a free kick taken by Pulina, was promptly blocked by Mazza. At 1-0 the rossoblù play on velvet, moving the ball well, with Monza barricaded in mid-field. Pisacane, in order not to give points of reference to the Brianza team, moves Idrissi to the right with Vinciguerra moving behind Konate. The move paid off and the Sardinians doubled their lead in the 23rd minute, again with Vinciguerra , with one of his usual counterattacks. This is the third strike in the league for the attacker.

In the half hour, a dubious episode in the Monza area, with Caddeo put down by Brugarello. The referee lets it go and as the action develops the Lombards win a free kick from the edge which leads to Lupinetti 's 1-2 goal. In the last quarter of an hour before the break, Cagliari dropped too low and lost Caddeo due to injury (replaced by Balde). In the 43rd minute Monza risks equalizing with Ferraris even if Pulina scares Mazza at the end with a nice diagonal shot just wide (the delightful assist from Vinciguerra should be underlined).

In the second half Cagliari started as they had started the first half and scored the 3-1 on a penalty won and converted by Konate . Pisacane gives the last half hour to Carboni and Kingstone who recovered from their respective injuries during the week. Monza, however, calls everything into question in the 69th minute, closing the gap again with Lupinetti . Shortly after, Lupi's team came close to making it 3-3 thanks to a header from Colombo. In the 76th minute, however, the hosts remained numerically inferior due to the expulsion of Nenè for a blow to Idrissi with a far ball. Cagliari threw themselves forward and created a lot until finally closing the game with Achour in the 89th minute. It ends 4-2 with Cagliari emerging victorious from the "Berlusconi" in Monza with many solid certainties. This success is the third consecutive in the championship, the fourth considering the passage of the round in the Italian Cup.
