Cagliari Primavera is slowing down its pursuit of the playoffs. Monza won 2-1 at the Crai Sport Center. For Pisacane's team - which was coming off two consecutive victories - the home defeat against the Brianza team was an abrupt stop but, above all, a missed opportunity to catch Lazio in fifth place.

In the first half the guests broke the deadlock with Marras in the quarter of an hour. The dribbling and aggressiveness of the Lombards put Cagliari in serious difficulty, especially in the first twenty minutes of the game. In the 22nd minute the Sardinians won a penalty kick with Cogoni. Carboni appears from the spot and scores on goalkeeper Ciardi's rebound.

At the beginning of the second half, Pisacane's team coldly conceded Antunovic's 2-1 goal. The rossoblù team progressively goes out after Kassama 's expulsion for a second yellow card in the 69th minute. Despite the Sardinians' forcing, Monza covered themselves well, risking only in some situations in free kicks. In the end, it was Lupi's team that took home the three points.

The words of Fabio Pisacane

«I'm sorry for the defeat – declared Cagliari coach Fabio Pisacane at the end of the match – It's a shame not to have given continuity to the two victories. Today, with the three points, we could have taken another small step forward. However, we must be positive and start again. Also because we are there, close to the playoff zone."

The coach also focuses on the fact that the team, especially when coming off a series of victories, is unable to make the leap: «If we confirm the performances achieved during the season, we can also think about raising the bar. But in some key moments we stumble upon some empty passages. So we have to improve and, starting tomorrow, think about the Bologna match."

And on Monza: «It's a team that doesn't deserve its current position in the standings. We knew that this match could hide some pitfalls. The boys, perhaps, have not yet realized that the opponents are starting to treat us differently and with respect. The championship is long and we cannot expect to always win. Today, in some things, we are lacking. But it is from these defeats that we must draw positive things to then face the next match in the best possible way."
