Efisio De Muru is the new provincial secretary of the Cagliari Democratic Party: his candidacy received unanimous support.

A resident of Capoterra, 55, he boasts a long career in the Democratic Party's governing bodies. Until a few months ago, he was the regional coordinator of the secretariat led by Piero Comandini.

The goal for the coming months, a statement reads, "is to strengthen the party's presence in communities, institutions, and places of civic participation."

"I don't like the idea that the party is only for elected officials. The party is for its members, but also for its voters, who, even without a membership card, never fail to give us their support and trust at every election," De Muru said. "That's why we must work to encourage voters to participate in the life of the party within all its bodies. Because a broad party means a party capable of responding to people's needs, and this can be achieved with as much energy and human resources as possible."
In his speech, the new secretary emphasized the need for a Democratic Party capable of returning to real life to defend democracy because "what is happening internationally affects everyone, and the authoritarian drift of Trump's America must put us on guard because we can only risk ending up in the same situation in a moment."
De Muru emphasized that membership will reopen soon and the need to address the financial issue because "without resources, you can't engage in politics. Without a strong and well-established local organization, you can't engage in politics."

During the meeting, Barbara Cadoni, coordinator of the previous secretariat led by the resigning Jacopo Fiori, was also unanimously elected President.
