The curtain rises on the opera and ballet season 2022 of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. "It finally starts again on January 28 with an annual program, after the suspension of the shows due to the pandemic. An important sign of recovery", underlines the superintendent Nicola Colabianchi, inviting the public to return to attend the theater.

"A safe place", clarified the president of the Foundation's board of directors, Mayor Paolo Truzzu, in recalling "the charm of an unforgettable experience like attending an opera or a concert".

The season ticket campaign starts in January, with the possibility of confirming seats, and opening up to new audiences also thanks to targeted promotions on social networks and prices unchanged compared to previous years.

Six operas and a ballet are scheduled for the seven season ticket shifts, in addition to morning performances for schools.

The curtain rises with the rediscovery of "Cecilia" by Refice (January 28-February 5), workhorse of great artists such as Claudia Muzio, a leading title in the 1950s and then forgotten, proposed in a new staging of the Lirico for directed by Leo Muscato. A rare work that has already aroused interest even beyond the borders of Italy: "Confirmed - specifies the superintendent - by the requests for registrations received from France and Spain". That Cagliari will be the first representation in modern times of the "sacred action", under the direction of Giuseppe Grazioli, specialist of the twentieth century. American final with the first wait in the capital of Bernstein's "West Side Story" (15-23 December), international co-production, a virtual bridge between Sardinia and the USA.

Almost in an ideal continuation comes a great classic on pointe, "Romeo and Juliet" by Prokof'ev, (11-19 November), an immortal masterpiece, interpreted by the prestigious ballet troupe and soloists of the Kazan Opera House . Also on the bill are titles of great repertoire such as "L'elisir d'amore" by Donizetti (4-12 March) directed by Michele Mirabella, "La sonnambula" by Bellini (13-21 May), an idyllic-pastoral work, a masterpiece absolute of the Italian bel canto theater, "Manon Lescaut" by Puccini (7-15 October).

From 9 to 16 April it is the turn of the Verdi "Ernani", who returns to Cagliari after 69 years. The direction is signed by Davide Garattini Raimondi.
