There will be a few more days for buy-backs. Cagliari, like all Italian professional clubs, has seen the window in which to exercise option rights slip: no longer from Monday 16 to Wednesday 18, as originally planned, but from Sunday 22 to Tuesday 24. A postponement linked to the Serie B play-offs between Sampdoria and Salernitana, which will be played on June 15 and 20: with the two clubs still involved in official matches (decisive, after the chaos related to Brescia) it was necessary to give more time to resolve the issues related to buy-backs.
In the red and blue key, there will be a few additional days of evaluations before the moment of truth regarding three players: Elia Caprile, Michel Adopo and Roberto Piccoli . The first arrived in Cagliari in January, in an operation that also involved Simone Scuffet, snatching from Napoli a right of redemption set at 8 million euros. Half, 4, are instead those needed to take Adopo outright, one of the revelations of the season just ended. For Piccoli the outlay becomes more substantial, the 12 million set by Atalanta a year ago before the bomber arrived (as had never happened to him in his career) in double figures.
For Cagliari's coffers, the three buyouts would cost 24 million euros, certainly not a low-cost operation. Also because an additional 6 million must be added to the count, those of the buyout of Gianluca Gaetano (also from Napoli) which became mandatory during the season . For this reason, the possibility is gaining ground that in the end the club - regardless of how the issue related to the sporting director will evolve - will exercise all three buyouts, to then evaluate any offers at a higher price and guarantee an immediate capital gain with at least one excellent sale.
On the buyout front, a small part of the amount requested to permanently purchase Caprile, Adopo and Piccoli will come from Pantelis Hatzidiakos . The Greek defender, after a 2023-2024 with more shadows than lights, was loaned a year ago with the right to buy to the Danish team Copenhagen, who decided to exercise it: about 2 million in Cagliari's coffers. While Paok is not expected to confirm Mateusz Wieteska.
