After almost five years there is a change at the helm of Fratelli d'Italia in Sardinia: the deputy Francesco Mura takes the place of Antonella Zedda. The appointment was communicated yesterday evening by Giorgia Meloni to those directly concerned, to the leaders of FdI on the Island and to Giovanni Donzelli, national head of the party's Organization Department. The Prime Minister thanked Zedda "for the valuable work carried out on the territory in these years" and wished Mura good luck: "I am certain that you will deserve the trust that has been granted to you by carrying out your task in the interest of the party and its growth". Mayor of Nughedu Santa Vittoria from 2018 to 2023, Mura was elected regional councilor with FdI in 2019. In 2022 he made the leap to Parliament, together with Antonella Zedda, elected senator in the same year.
The change at the top of the party had been in the air for some time but no one expected an acceleration in these hours, in which Giorgia Meloni must decide how to replace Minister Raffaele Fitto after his nomination as executive vice president of the EU. Antonella Zedda had taken the place of Salvatore Deidda, who in turn had replaced Paolo Truzzu. And Zedda had protected the candidacy of Truzzu, who in the meantime had become mayor of Cagliari, for the presidency of the Region: a race that ended with the victory, last February, of the current governor Alessandra Todde.
