The 26-year-old had just come out of quarantine on Tuesday after making contact with teammate Niklas Suele, who tested positive last week. Bayern executives, according to the German press, have informed Kimmich and four teammates that their salaries will be reduced if placed in solitary confinement. Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Michael Cuisance are the other Bavarian players who have not received any vaccine doses, according to Bild.

The story of Kimmich (64 appearances), who chose not to be vaccinated for "personal reasons", sparked the debate in Germany, in the face of a new wave of epidemic.
