In a state of shock, the 32-year-old babysitter who was arrested yesterday on charges of attempting to kill the child she was supposed to take care of is still unable to answer: the 13-month-old fell from the second floor - a height of about three meters - from his home in Soliera, in the Modena area , and is now hospitalized in serious condition at the Maggiore hospital in Bologna.

It happened yesterday morning around 10: the little one was seen, lying on the ground, by some neighbors. At that moment in the house there were with him the nanny and the woman who takes care of the cleaning. But something in the stories of the first, questioned at length by the carabinieri in the barracks, made the investigators hypothesize that the child did not fall in an accident: it would have been the 32-year-old who knocked him down . The uncensored woman is now in the Sant'Anna prison in Modena awaiting the validation hearing which will probably be held tomorrow.

"My client is in a state of confusion, she does not realize what happened. It was impossible to provide a factual reconstruction of what happened", explained the lawyer Francesca Neri.

THE RESCUE - The 118 health workers arrived yesterday morning with an ambulance and the helicopter rescue, but also the carabinieri. The child was taken to intensive care at the Maggiore hospital in Bologna in critical condition : he reported several traumas and the prognosis is reserved. After the night spent in the hospital, his condition is still serious, but stable.

The child's family, Italian, is well known in Soliera: "Very good people, I always see the child - explained a woman who works in the area - Only child, young couple".
