An alternative finance operation to boost the real economy and support a leading player in the food retail and craft beer sectors. The Azimut Group, an independent global asset and wealth management firm with €159 billion in total assets under management, listed on the Milan Stock Exchange since 2004, has provided a €5 million private debt financing to Doppio Malto , a renowned restaurant brand controlled by the FoodBrand Group.
The operation aims to support Doppio Malto's business plan, supporting the expansion of its commercial network with the goal of opening 60 new locations by 2029 , evenly distributed between directly operated and franchised locations. To date, the brand has 66 restaurants in Italy and France (40 directly operated and 26 franchised) and fully controls its value chain thanks to the modern brewery owned by Iglesias.
The financing was structured and co-invested by two of the group's vehicles: Azimut Diversified Corporate Credit (Adcc) , a fund that has invested over €110 million to date to support 22 Italian companies with a cumulative turnover of approximately €4.2 billion and over 16,000 employees, and Azimut Agrifood Mezzogiorno , launched in 2026, which has already financed three leading companies with a total turnover of over €500 million and approximately 2,000 employees.
The transaction enhances Azimut's integrated approach, combining the advisory expertise of Azimut Corporate Finance with the fund management expertise of Azimut Investments SA. The move also underscores Azimut's commitment to the Sardinian region, recently strengthened by the opening of Azimut's new financial advisors office in Cagliari, on Via Bottego .
"The transaction with Doppio Malto represents a concrete example of Azimut's commitment to supporting Made in Italy excellence in their expansion plans," stated Giorgio Medda, CEO of the Azimut Group . "We are particularly proud to support an industrial company with such strong ties to Sardinia, a region with a dynamic entrepreneurial network and a wealth of expertise and success stories. Supporting this cutting-edge production chain, thanks to the synergies within our Group, demonstrates once again how alternative finance represents an exceptional driver of development for the South and for the entire country."
"Azimut's support fuels our ambitions and our values," said Giovanni Porcu , CEO of Doppio Malto Spa . "It allows us to consolidate our presence in Sardinia, the heart of our identity and our production chain. At the same time, it provides us with the resources and solidity needed to accelerate the brand's development and build an industrial project capable of generating value along the entire supply chain. For us, growth means investing, innovating, and creating new opportunities in Sardinia, Italy, and international markets."
