Cagliari will play on Saturday at 3:00 pm in the twenty-fifth matchday of Serie A, at home to Atalanta: the referee at the Gewiss Stadium will be Matteo Marchetti of the Ostia Lido section. This is the decision of the Aia, under the spotlight after a highly contested last round in terms of match officials and VAR (Como-Juventus, Empoli-Milan, Torino-Genoa and Inter-Fiorentina in particular). As assistants there will be Valerio Vecchi of the Lamezia Terme section and Gamal Mokhtar of the Lecco section, fourth official Francesco Cosso (Reggio Calabria). At the VAR Marco Guida (Torre Annunziata) and Gianluca Manganiello (Pinerolo, he will be the assistant).

Marchetti returns to refereeing in Serie A after two months, the last time was on December 7 in Juventus-Bologna. With Cagliari only one victory, on his debut on October 17, 2021 (3-1 against Sampdoria), then two defeats and as many draws between A, B and Coppa Italia . The last one was on November 26, 2023, 1-1 at home with Monza.
