The last events for Genera Festival Estate , the literary events hosted by Genera, the journalism and communications festival for high school students. Sunday, August 9th at 8:30 p.m. in Piazza Sant'Erasmo in In Alghero, Sardinian writer Renzo Trenta will present his latest book, "The Song of the Stones. Myths, Hymns, and Nuragic Genealogies." Born in Villagrande Strisaili in 1951, a navigator and admirer of music, literature, history, philosophy, science, and archaeology, he has written several navigational journals and a book on the Nuragic civilization. Peppone Tinnirello will be in conversation with the author.

The summer literary series will conclude with Bianca Pitzorno , on Monday, August 10th at 9:30 pm, in the open spaces of Villa Mosca in Alghero. The Sassari-born writer will present her new novel, "La sonnambula," in conversation with fashion designer and writer Patrizia Sardo Marras. The novel won third place in the Strega Prize.

Inspired by a late 19th-century newspaper clipping, Bianca Pitzorno plays with the archetypes of adventure and romance novels, dipping her pen into the Gothic and the picaresque to write a novel teeming with life, dreamlike, ironic, and political at once. Haunted by mysterious visions, the sleepwalker—the novel's protagonist is Ofelia Rossi, a woman born with a limited and uncontrollable gift of foresight—is simultaneously alien to all superstition, capable of facing her destiny as a single woman in a hostile world with dignity and courage. Through her extraordinary adventure—Ophelia flees from an abusive husband and takes refuge in the Sardinian town of Onora (inspired by Sassari), where she supports herself by posing as a somnambulist—the writer celebrates the power of the human mind and reminds us that, thanks to our fortitude, rationality, and imagination, we write our own lives.

The meeting is organized by the Genera association in collaboration with the Il Labirinto Mondadori Bookstore.
