The first television interview released by Alec Baldwin after the tragedy on the set of the film “Rust” in which the actor, holding a gun, killed Halyna Hutchins, director of photography, was broadcast on ABC.

During the dialogue with George Stephanopoulos, the American actor said that he armed the vintage Colt and manually operated the hammer of the revolver, letting it go and thus causing the shot.

Retracing those moments, Baldwin explained: “In the scene I cocked the gun and said (to Hutchins, ed) 'do you want to see how I do it?' and she said yes. So I took the gun and started cocking it, without pulling the trigger - continued the actor pointing his right index finger forward and pulling back the raised thumb just to simulate the movement he was describing - ... and then I left go the dog and the blow is gone ".

A weapons expert, Scott Rasmussen, consulted by CNN noted that if Baldwin had slowly accompanied the hammer to the gun, instead of letting it go, the weapon would not have fired.

However, the mystery still remains as to how a real bullet ended up in the Colt.
