"The state should assume its responsibilities, treat us with the same yardstick used for Alitalia employees and seek a solution to one of the most important national disputes".

This is the appeal launched by the approximately 200 employees of Air Italy who today demonstrated once again in Rome "for work, which is a right".

The procession started from the Colosseum and arrived in Piazza Santi Apostoli. Here workers and trade unions gathered to ask the government to avert in extremis the layoffs initiated by the liquidators of the company starting from January 2. In fact, the company refused to request an extension of the redundancy fund.

The airline's employees have no intention of giving up: "We hope to be included with an amendment in the decree that the government is drafting in support of the tourism and transport sector, starting with the air sector," explained the leaders of the trade unions.

The requests of the 1322 former Meridiana workers are precise, as emerged from yesterday's face to face with the Sardinia Region (and in particular with the Labor Councilor Alessandra Zedda), and were put in black and white in the unitary document addressed to the minister of Labor Andrea Orlando, of Economic Development Giancarlo Giorgetti, and of Transportation Enrico Giovannini: "Reconvocation of the table still open, blocking of layoffs, extension of the redundancy fund and activation of an extraordinary income support tool for 36 months. Naspi and block the layoffs in the meeting that the government will convene in the coming days with the Regions of Sardinia and Lombardy. We will also ask for a year of layoffs, the maintenance of the validity of the licenses, the retraining of staff and their relocation to other airlines " .
