Over 2 thousand people representing 60 municipalities in Sardinia , more than 30 couples on horseback. And again: a procession from 25 municipalities and made up of 280 between Amazons and horsemen. More than thirty, then, the groups that will perform in songs and dances.

These are just some of the numbers of the 71st edition of the Sardinian Cavalcade which this year, exceptionally but not for the first time, is held in September, Sunday 4th.

All the details were presented today, at Palazzo Ducale , by the mayor of Sassari Nanni Campus and by the councilor for culture, Laura Useri.

The decision to move the date of the event was necessary due to the prolongation of the health emergency due to the Covid-19 epidemic , which only ceased on March 31st. The municipal administration has decided not to give up the organization, but to move it to the earliest possible date. “We opted for a concentrated formula, but no less spectacular, which combines culture, music and identity - explained Laura Useri -. The organization of the Cavalcade required a great organizational commitment that saw the Municipality of Sassari at the forefront, despite the only three weeks that - exceptionally for this year - separate the Candelieri from the Cavalcade ".

Particular attention was paid to compliance with the principles of sustainability and accessibility of the tourism sector promoted by the Ministry of Tourism: among the initiatives adopted, the use of compostable glasses for the administration of water - as already provided for by the municipal regulation - and a minor use of electricity in order to contain harmful emissions.
