Administrative elections in Sardinia, ballot boxes open in 65 municipalities
Voting is up to 11pm, possible ballot only in Oristano and SelargiusBallots open from 7 to 23 also in Sardinia : over two hundred thousand voters called today to choose mayors and municipal councils in 65 centers on the island . The counting will begin tomorrow at 2pm.
In two municipalities there is a possible runoff on June 26 : Oristano , the only provincial capital to vote, and Selargius with its almost 30 thousand inhabitants. Both center-right strongholds, the result constitutes a test for the president of the region Christian Solinas.
Nine million in total the voters involved in 906 Municipalities of Italy , including four regional capitals (Palermo, where there have been inconveniences due to the forfeit of dozens of presidents , L'Aquila, Genoa, Catanzaro).
ATTENDANCE - At 12 noon the turnout in Sardinia is around 19.4% (22.5% in the previous rounds) . In detail, in the province of Cagliari at 16 (17.5), Nuoro 22.4 (24.6), Oristano 18.6 (21.6), Sassari 22 (26), South Sardinia 19 (24). In Oristano and Selargius, 19.4% (21.5) and 15.4% (16.5) of those entitled respectively voted.
At 7 pm the average turnout on the island was over 43%, down from 48% in the previous round.
In Lodine the first mayor was elected in record time: with only one list in the field, the quorum was reached at noon. Davide Cualbu was elected mayor.
In Italy, the turnout in municipal councils is around 17% (19.64), always a partial figure.
THE NUMBERS - On the island, only one list was presented in 27 out of 65 municipalities : here a quorum of 40% must be reached for the vote to be valid. Overall, the lists presented are 131. There are 110 candidates for auditors: 24 women , 21.8%. The percentage of women increases, but always remains below 50%, considering the total number of candidate directors: 1,803, women are 747, 42%.
ORISTANO AND SELARGIUS - Four candidates in Oristano : the outgoing deputy mayor Massimiliano Sanna for the center-right, Efisio Sanna for the center-left (also supported by M5s who presented his own list), Sergio Locci and Filippo Murgia supported by two civic lists.
The outgoing mayor Gigi Concu returns to Selargius with the support of the center-right with the Forza Italia, Sardinian Reformers, Union of Center, Sardegna 20Venti, Fratelli d'Italia, Lega Salvini and "Prima Selargius Concu Mayor" lists. Sardists with the centrist Franco Camba supported by the great coalition "Selargius deserves more", made up of the lists "Sardistas", "Pd per Selargius", "Selargius +", "Selargius Cambia" and Movimento Cinque stelle. Third candidate Manuela Chia with the list "Identity and tradition" supported by Italexit For Italy by Gianluigi Paragone and by the People of the Family by Mario Adinolfi.
THE REFERENDUMS - The whole electoral body - 50,915,402 voters, of which 4,735,783 abroad - is instead called to express itself on the 5 referendums on justice promoted by Lega and Radicali . The counting will begin immediately after closing at 11pm.
The referendum questions concern the separation of functions for magistrates, the Severino law, the limits for pre-trial detention, the rules for candidates to the CSM and the judges' assessments . At 12% the turnout for the referendum throughout Italy was around 6.4% (in Sardinia 5%). At 7pm the turnout is just over 12%.
