Accused of sexual abuse by his 21-year-old nephew, Ricky Martin faces 50 years in prison

"It's all false." So Ricky Martin on July 4 rejected the accusations of domestic violence that he has to answer in Puerto Rico, his hometown.
At that time the name of the alleged victim was not known and there was generically talk of stalking, but the situation for the 50-year-old singer worsens. His 21-year-old nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez , denounced him for sexual abuse.
According to the boy, the abuses took place during a "relationship" between the two that lasted "seven months". If found guilty, Martin faces up to 50 years in prison , the maximum penalty provided by Puerto Rican law for incestuous relationships.
The trial begins on July 21, when the 21-year-old will appear before a judge to confirm his allegations. Then the judge will decide whether Martin's restraining order will remain in effect or be canceled.
"False and disgusting allegations" according to Marty Singer, lawyer for the pop star's legal team. Martin's lawyers prepare the defense by also calling into question the boy's " mental health problems " and citing a harassment complaint he allegedly received from a woman. And they deny the relationship between the two, " Ricky Martin has never had a sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew ".
Ricky Martin has been married for five years to Syrian artist Jwan Yosef, they have two children born of surrogacy.
