Regional President Alessandra Todde doesn't give much weight to the Democratic Party's decision to distance itself from the appointments of directors of the Cagliari and Olbia local health authorities. "The political positions are all legitimate," she clarified on the sidelines of the discussion of the motions on Article 41-bis, "but I have a duty to synthesise, and above all, I must address the Sardinians' need for the most important local health authorities, particularly Cagliari's, to have direction and be managed." Differing positions within a majority don't frighten the governor. After all, she emphasized, "we are guided by a set of values, and I am stubbornly united, just like the Democratic Party's national leader, Elly Schlein, so we will synthesise as we always have."
Talking about the Democratic Party's decision to skip Sunday's meeting, Todde said, "The discussions have been ongoing for weeks. But my most important responsibility is to provide answers to those who expect those local health authorities to function properly." The Democratic Party spoke of resolutions with legal uncertainty. However, Todde recalled today, "the legal opinions I relied on are the same ones that guided us in the December 31st appointments to the other local health authorities."
Debate on Article 41 Bis
Today, Todde spoke in the Chamber on the motions related to the transfer of inmates under the 41-bis regime to Sardinian prisons: "Our island is and will remain on the side of the State in defending legality and security. The point is not to weaken the fight against the mafia, but to ensure balance, proportionality, and respect for the Special Autonomy." She urged the Regional Council to express a broad and responsible position, based on the principle of loyal collaboration between the State and the Region: " Defending Sardinia means maintaining both firmness against the mafia and protection of the territories. We are not asking for privileges, but respect, proportionality, and shared responsibility." The motions will be discussed in the Chamber this afternoon, starting at 4:00 PM.
