The Trophy of the city of Alghero
On the weekend of 14 and 15 October, Alghero hosts the latest edition of the international men's judo team competition, the Riviera del Corallo Trophy. The event is organized by the Martial Arts Sardinia sports club , chaired by Maestro Gavino Piredda , with the contribution of the Sardinia Region with the collaboration of the Tourism and Sport Departments .
In recent years the sporting event has seen the participation of the strongest and most competitive national representatives on the world stage, increasing the prestige of the Alghero trophy in the international judo panorama. From this perspective, the event certainly enhances the city of Alghero and the whole of Sardinia as a promoter of this noble and high-level sport.
In addition to Italy, the champions of Poland, Romania, Portugal, Moldova and Sicily will also participate in the 27th edition of the event and will compete for the victory starting from the afternoon of Saturday 14 October (3pm) at the Judo club gym in Alghero , with free entry for all sports enthusiasts, concluding with the awards ceremony on Sunday 15th .
Without a doubt, the Riviera del Corallo Trophy , in Alghero, represents one of the most important events in Italy regarding team Judo, with the presence of champions of the highest level. A great show, a moment of pure sport, full of young voices that represent its merit and which confirms the excellent season for international Judo.

The words of Maestro Gavino Piredda
"I am very happy to have managed to organize the Riviera del Corallo Trophy again this year. There were difficulties as the international calendar is very full of important events and some teams had to give up coming to Alghero, but managing to Bringing high level Judo to Sardinia is a goal for me that began many years ago " - says Master Gavino Piredda, President of SSD Arti Marziali Sardegna srl and organizer of the competition - " Living on an island, as fantastic as ours , involves obvious difficulties not only for the residents, but also for those who have to reach us, therefore we have activated all our human and economic resources to organize this sporting event. Thanks to the Sardinia Region, with the Department of Tourism and Sport, the Municipality of Alghero, the experience acquired over the years and all the local suppliers, I am confident that this year too we will be able to make Alghero and Sardinia known to the world through sport and above all to create enthusiasm in our island judokas, who will have the opportunity to see great Champions live ” - continues Maestro Piredda .

Gismondo Andrea , of the Italian National Team, multiple medalist at the Italian Championships, Bronze medal at the Military World Championships, Bronze medal at the European Championships, multiple medalist at the European Cup;
Grzegorz Teresiński , of the Polish national team, Bronze Medal at the last 2023 European Junior Championships held in The Hague, Holland last September;
Gotonoaga Dorin , of the Moldova national team, multiple medalist at the European Championships and European Cup.

In the 2022 edition, the prestigious Coral Trophy, created by the Bottega Orafa di Agostino Marogna of Alghero , was won by Moldova ahead of second-placed Hungary and third-placed Italy and the Representative of Sicily.
