Lorenzo Mora, Nicolò Martinenghi, Silvia Di Pietro and Costanza Cocconcelli won the silver medal in the 4x50 medley relay with a time of 1'36"01, a new European record, on the second day of the short course World Championships in Melbourne.

Italy also swims below the previous world record of 1'36"18, but Americans Ryan Murphy, Nik Fink, Kate Douglass and Torri Huske have done better.

In fact they conquered the world title with the new world record of 1'35"15.

Canada is third, with 1'36"93 after the disqualifications of Holland and Germany.
