“China will definitely be reunified.” Chinese President Xi Jinping said this while addressing the nation in his end-of-year speech.

"All Chinese on both sides of the Taiwan Strait should be united by a common goal and share the glory of the renewal of the Chinese nation," Xi underlined, reiterating Beijing's intention not to give up its claims on the island.

Xi also took stock of the economy of the People's Republic, calling it "more dynamic than before".

During 2023, the Chinese leader underlined, the country's economy "has mastered the storm to become more resilient".

From what has been learned, in recent hours Xi also exchanged greetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Faced with changes unprecedented in a century and a turbulent regional and international situation, China-Russia relations have maintained healthy and stable development and have steadily progressed in the right direction," Xi said, quoted by state channel CCTV, in regarding relations with Moscow. «Under our joint leadership – he added – mutual political trust has deepened, our strategic coordination has been close, and mutually beneficial cooperation has continued to produce new results».
