The Vatican portal (Vatican.va) has been inaccessible for over 24 hours. From the first malfunctions recorded yesterday, "the anomalous activity continues", the Vatican press office announced with reference to external attempts to access their official website.

The attacks on the platform are reportedly coming from multiple countries, although the hackers are supposedly just faking access from different locations. The Vatican's IT staff has been working for over a day to ascertain the nature of the problem.

The computer anomaly occurs in the aftermath of the Kremlin's harsh responses to the interview given by Pope Francis to the magazine "America" in which the Pontiff condemns the cruelty of the aggression against Ukraine and the conduct of the Kremlin.

The leader of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov has attacked Bergoglio, underlining that for him the Pope has "remained a victim of propaganda" while according to Russian Foreign Minister Serghei Lavrov, the Pope would have issued un-Christian statements on the cruelties committed in particular by Chechens and Buryats.
