The lifeless body of a 5-year-old boy missing in the floods that brought the province of Valencia in Spain to its knees on October 29 was found by the Civil Guard in a ravine near the municipality of Chiva, one of the hardest hit by the catastrophe.

The body was recovered yesterday, thanks to the use of molecular dogs, in the Barranco de Palos, where it had been dragged by the mud flood. The little body was transferred to the morgue of the City of Justice of Valencia, to undergo an autopsy and DNA testing for identification.

In the municipality of Torrent, about 29 km from Chiva, two children, Izan and Ruben, have been sought since the day of the floods: it is not clear whether the body found belongs to one of the two. That day , a truck dragged by the mud tsunami collided with the house where the two children were with their parents , causing part of the wall to collapse and causing the house to flood. In a terrible sequence, Izan and Riben's father tried to grab them, but the violent current of the overflowing torrent tore them from his hands.

The man was also dragged by the wave of mud, but was later saved by some neighbors. Since then the searches have been concentrated in the area of the canal adjacent to the house, combed inch by inch by rescuers and divers of the Civil Guard in search of the children and also of other people who are missing, who are still dozens.
