The agreement for the release of the hostages held by Hamas is close .

US Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer stated this in an interview with CBS: «We are closer to an agreement with Hamas on the hostages. There is no agreement but the differences have diminished ,” he said.

Finner did not go out of his way when they asked him if it was true that one of the conditions posed by Joe Biden for the agreement was the release of all Americans, he simply reiterated that «we are closer than we have ever been to a deal" .

The prime minister of Qatar , a country that is acting as mediator, also confirms an increasingly close agreement.

" Now only minor practical issues stand in the way of the agreement , mostly logistical and of a practical nature", declared Mohammed ben Abdelrahman Al-Thani at a press conference in Doha together with the high representative of EU foreign policy, Josep Borrell. The prime minister, however, did not want to provide time estimates.
