United Airlines will fire 593 employees who have refused to comply with the vaccination obligation against Covid-19.

This was announced by the American company itself, reporting that another 2 thousand employees have requested a medical or religious exemption, equal to about 3% of the company's 67 thousand employees.

The company said it was satisfied with the results of its vaccination policy.

Already in early August, the airline had asked all its employees in the US to get vaccinated. United Airlines originally planned to place employees who were granted an exemption on unpaid leave, but as a legal procedure is underway initiated by employees who have been denied the exemption, these people remain with the company for the time being until to October 15 pending a decision.

On September 9, Joe Biden announced that companies with more than 100 employees should have required vaccination, but several companies (including United Airlines) had already made the requirement.
