"Discussions underway" for a possible summit of EU leaders in Paris on Ukraine, following contacts between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin for the possible resumption of peace negotiations.

Sources at the Elysée "do not confirm" that there will be a summit - announced in Monaco by the Polish Foreign Minister - at the beginning of next week, but the possibility is not excluded either.

Meanwhile, Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg said that “Europe will be consulted but will not be at the table in the peace talks on Ukraine.” “It might be chalk on a blackboard, it might be a little bit irritating, but I’m very honest,” Kellogg said. He added: “To my European friends, I say: Enter the debate, not by complaining that you may or may not be at the table, but by offering ideas and increasing defense spending.”

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy said, regarding a possible meeting with Trump to discuss ceasefire negotiations: "He told me that we need to meet. I confirmed it to him and said that it is important for us that we meet first," rather than a possible bilateral meeting with Putin.
