Reciprocal duties against all countries that apply tariffs or other trade barriers – such as VAT, CO2 taxes and more – on US products. Which will be 25% on all foreign cars, starting April 3.
"Today is the day of liberation." This was the opening statement of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to announce the imposition of duties that will unleash a global trade war. "This will be the day that will be remembered as the day we made America rich again," he added.
The quota will be 10% for all products not made in the USA, but "higher than those who have treated us badly," Trump stressed. So for the EU they will be 20%. "They have robbed us for years, they are pathetic," the president said. The tariff for China, among others, will be 35%, 30% for South Africa, 31% for Switzerland and 49% for Cambodia.
Trump has announced a line: American duties will be half of those that, according to him, are applied to US exports.
Addressing foreign leaders, he called on them to "end their tariffs, drop trade and non-trade barriers, and stop manipulating their currencies."
There will also be heavy repercussions for Sardinia: 60% of the production of pecorino romano is destined for the United States. A heavy backlash could also arrive for the wine sector.
