Train derails in Bavaria: dead and injured

Railway tragedy in Germany.

A train derailed near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria . According to an initial report from local authorities, the toll is four dead and about thirty injured, half of whom are in serious condition .

The accident occurred around 12.15 and, according to Bild, there were numerous students on board the convoy.

At least three train carriages overturned due to circumstances under investigation.

"People have been pulled out of the windows ," a police spokesman said, adding that the injured included "all age groups".

Helicopters from neighboring Austria have also mobilized to help police, firefighters and medical personnel.
